Under RM1,000 is where most of the phone market actually lives. Of the phones we track, 1,282 fall in this band, more than any other price range on the site. That means the RM1,000 ceiling isn’t really a “budget” tier anymore. It’s where most people shop.
We picked eight phones released in the last year or so, one per brand where the catalog allowed it, ordered from RM999 down to RM799. Every spec below comes straight from our full listing.
Realme P4x, RM999
The standout here is the battery: 7000 mAh, which is unusually large even for this price band. Realme paired it with a MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultra chipset and a 6.72-inch display, so it’s built for people who care more about a phone lasting through the day than about camera detail. RAM is on the lighter side at 4GB.
Infinix Note Edge, RM999
8GB RAM plus another 8GB of extended (software) RAM, a Dimensity 7100 chipset, and a 6.78-inch display. The 50MP main camera is a single-lens setup rather than the multi-camera arrays some competitors squeeze in at this price, but the RAM headroom is worth noting if you keep a lot of apps open.
nubia Neo 3, RM999
nubia’s pitch at this price is battery capacity again: 6000 mAh (or 5000 mAh depending on variant), paired with an Unisoc T8300 chipset. It’s a less common chipset choice than the Qualcomm and MediaTek options that dominate this list, worth knowing if you have opinions about that.
vivo Y39 5G, RM963
A Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, 8GB RAM (plus 8GB extended), and a 6500 mAh battery. This is a fairly balanced spec sheet without an obvious standout weakness, which is itself a reason it’s on this list.
Oppo A5 Pro 5G, RM940
Dimensity 6300 chipset, 8GB RAM, 256GB storage, and a 5800 mAh battery. A solid all-rounder rather than a standout in any one spec, which at this price is its own kind of recommendation.
TECNO Pova 7 5G, RM899
A Dimensity 7300 Ultimate chipset, 8GB RAM, and a 6000 mAh battery with 45W wired charging. Storage is 128GB, and TechNave lists this SKU as an online-exclusive listing.
Redmi Note 15 5G, RM849
The camera is the reason this one’s on the list: a 108MP main sensor with OIS, paired with an 8MP ultrawide. Every other phone here tops out at 50MP on the main sensor, and this one still undercuts most of them on price.
HONOR X7d 5G, RM799
The cheapest phone on this list, and the RAM (6GB) and storage (128GB) reflect that. Still gets a 6500 mAh battery and a Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 chipset, which is a reasonable trade at this price.
How we picked these
We filtered to phones released within roughly the last year, since older stock at a similar price point usually means older specs for the same money. From there we picked one phone per brand where the catalog supported it, to keep this list from becoming eight variations of the same two or three brands. Every price shown is a reference price from our last check, not a live quote, so confirm the current price on the retailer’s page before buying.
